PRO-7 Commends Nine RMFB-7 Officers for Heroic Actions in San Fernando Shootout
In a ceremony held on Monday, March 23, 2026, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 publicly honored the courage and heroism of nine members from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 7. These officers were involved in a critical encounter against a notorious criminal in San Fernando, Cebu, which took place on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
Medal of Kadakilaan Awarded to Assault Team
During the flag-raising event at PRO-7 headquarters, Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan led the presentation of the Medal of Kadakilaan to the assault team that responded to the incident in Sityo Boloc-Boloc, Barangay Sangat. The recognized officers include Police Captain Rodney Bantolo, Police Master Sergeant Patrocinio Apura III, Police Staff Sergeant Arniel Cañamo, Police Staff Sergeant Mark Chester Mabale, Police Staff Sergeant Raul Manango, Police Staff Sergeant John Rolan Mesia, Police Corporal Jeff Ryle Delposo, and Patrolman Dino Martorillas.
Additional Recognition for Wounded Officer
While the RMFB-7 group received accolades, Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) Director PCol Abubakar Mangelen Jr. personally visited Police Patrolman Kim Ceniza Villariaza in the hospital. Villariaza sustained a wound to his left arm during the shootout but was praised by Mangelen for refusing to leave his post despite the injury. The CPPO also honored Villariaza for his unwavering spirit of service and sacrifice.
Broader Anti-Criminality Efforts Acknowledged
The encounter in Barangay Sangat targeted a wanted criminal, highlighting the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in the region. Beyond the individual officers, PRO-7 extended recognition to other personnel who have achieved significant accomplishments in anti-criminality operations across the entire region, underscoring a commitment to public safety and crime reduction.
