PRO 7 Elevates Alert Status for Trillion Peso March 2.0 Weekend
PRO 7 Raises Alert Status for National Protest Weekend

Police Regional Office 7 has escalated its alert status from normal to full alert beginning 5:00 PM on Friday, November 27, 2025, in anticipation of the long weekend and the national rally dubbed "Trillion Peso March 2.0" scheduled for Sunday, November 30, 2025.

Heightened Security Measures Across Central Visayas

According to Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, the elevated alert status aims to ensure the protection of residents, tourists, and travelers throughout Region 7 during this period. The police official emphasized that increased mobility is expected across Central Visayas as passengers flock to terminals, airports, seaports, and commercial establishments during the approaching holiday season.

"This long weekend brings increased mobility—travelers, shoppers, tourists, and local residents heading out. Kasabay nito ang national protest. PRO7 must be fully prepared for all scenarios," Maranan stated during the announcement.

Comprehensive Police Deployment Strategy

General Maranan has directed all police units to enhance visibility patrols, prepare quick reaction teams, and strengthen security in major public gathering areas. The police chief clarified that the heightened alert status and personnel deployment are precautionary measures to maintain peace and order throughout the region while ensuring public activities remain uninterrupted.

"Our priority is the safety of every commuter and every family enjoying the long weekend. We want people to move freely and safely, without fear or disruption," he added.

While authorities believe the capital will see the highest participation in the protest activities, Central Visayas police are not taking any chances. They have implemented strict monitoring protocols and will deploy intelligence personnel and Civil Disturbance Management units if any disturbances arise.

Cebu City Police Specific Preparations

Meanwhile, the Cebu City Police Office, under Police Colonel George Ylanan, has mobilized approximately 200 police personnel for potential protest activities. Before their deployment on Friday, all officers received comprehensive briefings on maintaining peaceful and orderly conditions throughout Cebu City.

The police leadership has assured the public that they will respect the right to peaceful assembly and expression of grievances against the government, implementing maximum tolerance protocols. However, they emphasized zero tolerance for any form of violence or public disturbance during the weekend events.

The "Trillion Peso March 2.0" protest is expected to draw participation from various sectors including church groups, labor organizations, and progressive groups expressing frustration over alleged widespread corruption within the government.
