The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) successfully executed a comprehensive Modified Handgun Marksmanship Training program at the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Nocppo) Kapanalig Shooting Range. This intensive training event took place on February 18, 2026, at Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City.

Intensive Program Designed to Enhance Operational Skills

According to Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, chief of the PRO-NIR Public Information Office, this performance-driven initiative was specifically crafted to sharpen precision, strengthen critical decision-making capabilities, and enhance real-world firearm handling under pressure. The activity brought together personnel committed to elevating professional standards in the safe, disciplined, and effective use of handguns in operational environments, Malong emphasized.

The training ceremony highlighted the crucial importance of continuous skill development in strengthening operational capability, discipline, and professionalism among police personnel. It underscored the organization's unwavering commitment to preparedness and responsible firearm handling during duty performance.

Leadership and Collaborative Training Structure

The event was led by several key officers including:

  • Colonel Litp Patay, deputy regional director for Operations
  • Lieutenant Colonel Gaylord Tamayo
  • Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Bait
  • Lieutenant Rodel Hernandez
  • Additional personnel from PRO-NIR

Malong noted that the training was conducted by the Regional Special Training Unit (RSTU)-NIR in close collaboration with the Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division (RLDDD)-NIR, ensuring a comprehensive and standardized approach to skill development.

Significant Participation Across Multiple Units

A total of 450 personnel participated in this extensive training program, with representation from three major units:

  1. 150 personnel from the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO)
  2. 150 personnel from the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Nocppo)
  3. 150 personnel from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)

Through this initiative, PRO-NIR continues to expand its training programs to support personnel and units in achieving high-performance skill development anchored in safety, precision, and operational readiness.
