ZAMBOANGA. Troops of the 1102nd Infantry Brigade arrested another suspect involved in an indiscriminate firing incident and recovered a rifle on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Siondo village, Siasi, Sulu, through a coordinated law enforcement operation, officials reported.
Suspect Identified
Lieutenant Colonel Roy Dalumpines, commander of the 104th Infantry Battalion, identified the suspect as alias Muksan, a resident of Siondo village. Muksan was apprehended by troops from the Alpha Company led by First Lieutenant Carl Lorenz Ebon, who responded to reports of indiscriminate firing together with local officials and members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) led by Ramil Ipa Ismail.
Incident Details
Investigations revealed that Muksan allegedly fired his firearm indiscriminately in Tulling village, Siasi, following a family dispute over his sibling's proposed marriage, causing alarm among residents. During his arrest, Muksan peacefully surrendered one caliber .30 M1 Garand Rifle with one clip and three rounds of live ammunition.
Official Response
Brigadier General Alaric Avelino Delos Santos, commander of the 1102nd Infantry Brigade, praised the swift coordination among troops, local government officials, and community leaders in peacefully resolving the incident. He highlighted that this accomplishment underscores the ongoing success of the Rido-Free, Gun-Free, and Peace-Centered Communities (RFGFPCC) campaign of Task Group “Ganarul” in the second district of Sulu.
“This incident demonstrates the importance of unity and cooperation among our security forces, local leaders, and the community in preventing violence and maintaining peace,” Delos Santos said in a statement. “Through the RFGFPCC Campaign, we continue to encourage our people to reject the culture of violence and support peaceful conflict resolution,” he added.
Second Arrest
Muksan is the second suspect arrested by the 1102nd Infantry Brigade for indiscriminate firing in the second district of Sulu through swift and coordinated operations. The first suspect, alias Ben, was arrested for a similar offense on Saturday, May 23, in Sitio Button, Saganggang village, Pandami. Following Ben’s arrest, military and police personnel facilitated the voluntary surrender of one caliber .30 M1 Garand rifle with five rounds of live ammunition at Camp Muksan, which houses the 104th Infantry Battalion headquarters in East Kuntad village, Siasi, Sulu.
