Comelec-Davao Processes Over 271,000 Voter Registrations for 2026 Elections

The Commission on Elections in the Davao Region (Comelec-Davao) announced that it processed a total of 271,199 voter registration-related applications for the upcoming November 2026 elections. Officials observed a last-minute surge in applications before the May 18 deadline.

Acting Regional Director Atty. Gay Enumerables stated that the registration period, which began in October 2025 and ended on May 18, 2026, covered new registrations, transfers, reactivations, and updates to voter records. “For the entire regional area, we processed 271,199 applicants,” Enumerables said during the iSpeak media forum at Davao City Hall on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

In Davao City alone, Comelec processed 91,390 applications throughout the registration period. To make registration more accessible, election officials deployed teams to barangays, malls, schools, and telecommunications sites. “We visited barangays. We went to malls and schools,” Enumerables added.

Despite months of registration activities, many residents delayed their registration until the final days, causing long lines and a surge at registration centers, including at NCCC Mall sites, during the last weekend and on the deadline day itself.

Comelec urged qualified voters to avoid waiting until the deadline in future registration periods and emphasized the importance of participating in elections. “Mayaman ka, mahirap, you have the same vote (Whether you are rich or poor, you have the same vote),” Enumerables said.

The agency confirmed that preparations for the November 2026 elections will continue following the end of voter registration.
