Japanese Donor Gives Helmets to Cebu Highway Patrol

In a significant boost to road safety efforts, a Japanese national has made a generous donation to the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) 7 in Cebu. On Friday, February 27, 2026, Masashi Nagata, who has resided in Cebu for two decades, provided 25 helmets and 25 Bluetooth intercoms to the police unit. This contribution aims to enhance the protection of HPG 7 personnel during their daily patrols on the highways.

Enhancing Officer Safety

Police Lt. Col. Wildemar Tiu, the chief of HPG 7, expressed immense gratitude as he accepted the equipment. He emphasized that these items are crucial for their operational duties, particularly in ensuring the safety of officers who frequently patrol the roads on motorcycles. Tiu highlighted the importance of helmet use, stating, "When riding a motorcycle, you must wear a helmet. Number one for safety reasons: you need to have your helmet to protect your head from any possible injuries in a potential accident."

Recognition and Support

Nagata's donation was facilitated through the Regional Advisory Council of HPG 7, led by Chairman Jose Mendaros. In recognition of his support, HPG 7 presented Nagata with a certificate of appreciation. Tiu noted that Nagata has completed the Executive Motorcycle Riding Course and has been a consistent supporter of HPG 7's programs, underscoring his commitment to community safety initiatives.
