President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to visit Canada from July 1 to July 4 to deepen bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation in defense, security, trade, investment, energy, and other strategic sectors.
Meeting with Canadian Prime Minister
Marcos will meet with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to discuss expanding economic ties and other important matters. The visit includes meetings with Canadian business leaders and investors to promote business opportunities in the Philippines.
Engagement with Filipino Community
The President will also meet with the Filipino community in Vancouver. This is the first official visit of a Philippine president to Canada in over a decade.
First Lady Liza Marcos and other cabinet members will accompany the President. The visit to North America is upon the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Joseph Carney.
The last Philippine president to conduct a state visit to Canada was former President Benigno Simeon Aquino III in 2017.
