Arayat Boosts Public Safety with Land Donation for New Police Station
The municipal government of Arayat has taken a significant step toward enhancing public safety by donating a parcel of land to the Philippine National Police for the construction of a new municipal police station.
Official Turnover Ceremony
Mayor Jeffrey Luriz formally handed over the land title to Colonel Leo Bacon, the chief of police in Arayat, during a ceremony held on Monday, November 17. The event marked a crucial milestone in the local government's ongoing efforts to support law enforcement agencies in the municipality.
Mayor Luriz emphasized that this strategic donation represents a key component of the LGU's comprehensive plan to strengthen peace and order throughout the community. By providing improved facilities for local law enforcers, the municipal government aims to create a more conducive working environment that will ultimately benefit public safety operations.
Modernization Program Advancement
With the land requirement now fulfilled, Colonel Bacon confirmed that the Arayat police can proceed with formal funding requests to the PNP headquarters for the construction of a new, larger, and more modern police station. This development aligns perfectly with the PNP's nationwide modernization program that began in 2018, which focuses on building standardized two-story police buildings across the country.
The PNP's modernization initiative specifically requires local government units to provide land as their counterpart contribution, making Arayat's donation essential for moving forward with the project. Colonel Bacon expressed sincere gratitude to the local government for meeting this critical requirement, noting that the partnership will finally allow Arayat police personnel to operate from a facility designed to meet contemporary law enforcement needs.
The new police station will be constructed within the municipal hall compound, creating a centralized hub for local governance and public safety operations. This strategic location will facilitate better coordination between different government offices and law enforcement agencies, potentially improving response times and operational efficiency.
