Barangay Chairman Ambushed After Mayor's Birthday Celebration

A barangay chairman from Masantol town was fatally shot while another village official was wounded after gunmen opened fire on a group attending the birthday celebration of Mayor Danilo Guintu. The violent incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Victims and Immediate Aftermath

The fatality was identified as Jinky Quiambao, chairman of Barangay Balibago. According to police investigators, the village chief succumbed to a gunshot wound on the head. Quiambao was declared dead on arrival at the Domingo B. Flores District Hospital.

During the shooting, the barangay captain of Nigui, Enrique Yamat, sustained a gunshot wound on the hand, as confirmed by Masantol Municipal Councilor Bajun Lacap. The attack left one community leader dead and another injured.

Investigation and Manhunt Underway

The shooting occurred atop the dike in Barangay Alauli at 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Witnesses reported that two suspects riding a motorcycle fled towards Calumpit, Bulacan following the attack.

Colonel Eugene Marcelo, Director of the Pampanga Police Provincial Office, has ordered a thorough investigation into the village chief's slaying. The Provincial Police Forensic Unit has completed processing the crime scene, and all recovered evidence is now undergoing examination as authorities work to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
