Cebu City Robbery: P2.2M Jewelry Stolen, Suspect Arrested

P2.2 Million Jewelry Heist Rocks Cebu City Subdivision

Police in Cebu City have successfully apprehended the individual responsible for a brazen home robbery in Barangay Guadalupe, where jewelry valued at approximately P2.2 million was stolen. The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the quiet subdivision community, occurred in the early morning hours and was witnessed by a quick-thinking 20-year-old resident.

The Robbery: A Detailed Timeline

The theft took place at precisely 5:30 AM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. The suspect, identified by the aliases 'Waray' and 'Jercy', gained access to the bedroom of a 29-year-old female pilot while she was presumably asleep or absent from the room. The criminal made off with various pieces of jewelry with an estimated total value of P2,245,000.

What makes this case particularly noteworthy is the suspect's previous reconnaissance. A day before the robbery, the same individual had approached the witness outside their home, posing as a garbage collector and asking permission to take their trash. This preliminary interaction suggests the crime was premeditated, with the suspect casing the property beforehand.

The Arrest and Investigation

The breakthrough came when a 20-year-old witness observed the 42-year-old suspect inside the victim's bedroom, actively collecting the valuable items. Acting quickly despite fear, the witness retreated to their room, locked the door, and immediately contacted the Guadalupe Police Station 9.

Although police responded promptly to the emergency call, the suspect had already fled the scene by their arrival. However, during the subsequent follow-up investigation, authorities recovered crucial evidence left behind at the crime scene, including the suspect's flashlight and hat.

Through diligent police work and based on the witness's positive identification, authorities were able to track down and arrest the suspect, who works as both a carpenter and pedicab driver. The individual, who hails from Sitio Guadario in Barangay Guadalupe, was known to use multiple aliases, a fact that complicated but ultimately didn't prevent his capture.

The successful resolution of this case demonstrates the importance of community vigilance and prompt police response in combating property crimes in urban areas like Cebu City.
