Davao City Prepares Major Payout for Elderly Residents
The Davao City Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs (Osca) has announced a significant benefits distribution event scheduled for late November 2025. During Monday's flag ceremony, Osca Head Lorenzo Borja revealed that approximately 1,000 senior citizens aged 80 to 90 years old, along with five centenarians, will receive their financial benefits under the Expanded Centenarians Act.
Distribution Schedule and Amounts
The payout will take place from November 24 to 28, 2025 at the People's Park, marking the final quarter distribution for the year. According to Borja, octogenarians and nonagenarians will each receive P10,000, while the exceptional centenarians will be granted P100,000 each as mandated by the Expanded Centenarians Act.
Borja emphasized the importance of spreading information about this opportunity, encouraging city hall employees to inform eligible family members and friends. "This announcement is for everyone, including those who are not yet senior citizens," Borja stated. "We may have relatives who are senior citizens—those who turned 80, 85, 90, or 95 years old this year or in the previous year."
Expanding Reach and Acknowledging Support
The Osca has implemented multiple communication strategies to ensure all potential beneficiaries are informed. Borja confirmed they have relayed information through radio guestings, social workers, and presidents of senior citizen associations throughout Davao City.
Looking at the broader picture, Borja shared significant statistics with the City Information Office. For the first three quarters of 2025, 2,131 octogenarians and nonagenarians and 18 centenarians have already received their benefits. The addition of five centenarians in this fourth quarter brings the total to 23 centenarians recognized in Davao City for 2025.
Borja specifically mentioned that the oldest beneficiary is a remarkable 105-year-old from Marilog District. He also expressed gratitude to Acting City Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte, other city officials, and partners for their continued support of Davao's 200,000 senior citizens.
Aside from the Expanded Centenarians Act distribution, the annual financial assistance payout for senior citizens continues simultaneously. Borja advised those who haven't availed of financial assistance but already have Osca IDs to coordinate with their barangay to be included in the local government's assistance list.
