Employees of the Mandaue City government have started receiving their year-end financial benefits, bringing holiday cheer to the local workforce. The city administration confirmed the disbursement, with more incentives planned for different groups of workers.
Bonuses Released for Regular Employees
City Administrator Attorney Gonzalo “Sally” Malig-on announced on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, that the year-end bonus for regular city hall personnel has been successfully distributed. The bonuses were actually released on November 15, 2025, ensuring employees received the benefit well ahead of the Christmas season.
Malig-on stated that this fulfills the local government's commitment to its permanent staff. The timely release is seen as a boost to employee morale and spending power during the festive period.
Additional Incentives Await Approval
Beyond the standard year-end bonus, the city plans to provide further financial rewards. For regular employees, a performance-based incentive of P5,000 is on the table. However, Malig-on clarified that this amount is still subject to final evaluation as it is officially termed a performance enhancement incentive.
The announcement also covers non-regular workers. The city intends to grant benefits to Job Order (JO) personnel, Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), and Clean and Green program workers. The plan includes providing P5,000 for Job Order employees and a maximum amount for BHWs and Clean and Green workers, which is expected to come as salary differentials and special incentives.
Council Approval is Key
A crucial caveat applies to all these additional payments. Malig-on emphasized that the release of the performance incentive and the benefits for JO workers, BHWs, and Clean and Green personnel still depends on the approval of the Mandaue City Council.
The city administration expressed hope that the legislative body will act favorably so that all remaining financial benefits can be distributed to the intended recipients before Christmas. The final decision and timeline now rest with the councilors as they review the proposals.
