Members of the Persons with Disability (PWD) community from Barangay Umapad and Opao in Mandaue City have received their second installment of financial assistance, bringing relief and support to households affected by recent natural disasters.
Distribution Event Details
The second phase distribution took place on November 22, 2025, at the Barangay Opao Gym in Mandaue City. The Mandaue Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) organized the two-day event running from November 22 to November 23, 2025, with distributions scheduled across different barangay venues to accommodate registered PWD members more conveniently during the weekend.
Substantial Financial Support for PWD Community
According to Mandaue PDAO records, 27 barangays throughout the city are receiving the annual cash assistance of P8,000 per PWD member. The amount is distributed in two equal installments of P4,000 each, with the first tranche having been released back in February 2025.
The timing of this assistance proves particularly crucial as Mandaue City has faced various calamities this year, including earthquakes and typhoons that have impacted not only residential structures but also the daily livelihoods of many residents.
Strengthening PWD Participation and Support
Through this financial assistance program, PWD members receive additional benefits and support that enhance their participation in the sector's welfare. The collaboration and continuous participation with the new administration demonstrate hopeful governance, especially in providing financial aid to sustain programs and services that improve the lives of PWDs throughout the city.
For those not yet registered or interested in becoming PWD members, officials encourage visiting the PWD office or Mandaue City Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) located in the city center. Staff are available to assist with the application process and guide interested individuals through the necessary steps to qualify for future benefits and programs.
