Pampanga aids 6,947 barangay leaders with holiday gifts

The Provincial Government of Pampanga has launched an early holiday assistance program benefiting nearly 7,000 community volunteers across the province. This initiative recognizes the crucial work of local peacekeepers and community organizers.

Substantial Support for Barangay Frontliners

During a series of recent events, the provincial government provided comprehensive assistance to 6,947 Lupong Tagapamayapa and Purok Leaders from various towns. Each volunteer received a substantial package including ₱2,000 cash assistance, dressed chicken, hotdog packs, and a three-month supply of maintenance medicines.

This early holiday gift-giving campaign also served as an education program addressing vital barangay issues. The provincial government implemented this significant outreach in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Refresher Training and Official Recognition

The distribution events included more than just material support. Participants also attended refresher sessions focusing on mediation and conciliation procedures at the barangay level. These training components aimed to enhance the volunteers' skills in resolving community disputes effectively.

Governor Lilia "Nanay" Pineda personally led the recognition activities where she acknowledged the indispensable role these community mediators play in maintaining peace and order. During her engagements with the volunteers, she emphasized their importance as frontline workers in the justice system.

Gratitude and Ongoing Commitment

One of the beneficiaries, Gina De Luna of Consuelo, Macabebe, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the provincial government's support. Her testimony highlighted how such assistance directly impacts the lives of those serving their communities.

The Capitol has reiterated its commitment to strengthen barangay-based justice systems and continue assisting frontline community workers. This program demonstrates the provincial government's dedication to supporting those who maintain harmony at the grassroots level while providing them with practical support during the holiday season.
