Barangay Chairman Gunned Down in Brazen Daylight Attack
The Liga ng mga Barangay in Pampanga has issued a strong condemnation following the shocking murder of Jinkie Quiambao, the dedicated chairman of Barangay Balibago in Masantol town. The official was brutally shot dead by two assailants on a motorcycle in a daring afternoon assault that has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The violent incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 1 p.m. along the dike in Barangay Alauli. According to initial police reports, Quiambao had just attended the birthday celebration of Masantol Mayor Danilo Guintu when the tragedy unfolded. Two motorcycle-riding gunmen suddenly opened fire on a group of village officials who were gathered at the location.
The attack proved fatal for Chairman Quiambao, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency responders rushed him to the Domingo B. Flores District Hospital, but medical personnel declared him dead on arrival. The shooting also left another barangay official wounded—Enrique Yamat, chairman of Barangay Nigui, who was hit in the hand during the violent assault.
Official Condemnation and Police Investigation
In an official statement signed by Dr. Benjamin Angeles, ABC President and Board Member, the Liga ng mga Barangay described the assault as a "brazen act" that violates the principles of a lawful society. The organization emphasized that "no one should put justice into their own hands" while expressing full solidarity with and extending heartfelt condolences to the grieving family of Quiambao.
Pampanga police authorities, under the leadership of Colonel Eugene Marcelo, Pampanga Police Provincial Office director, have immediately ordered a thorough investigation into the shooting. The Provincial Police Forensic Unit has completed processing the crime scene, and all recovered evidence is now undergoing meticulous examination as authorities work to identify and apprehend the suspects who fled toward Calumpit, Bulacan.
