The victim, Barangay Balibago chairman Jinqui Quiambao, was a first-term village leader and a known supporter of former Patrol Party-list Representative Jorge Bustos. The ambush occurred on November 25, 2025, as Quiambao was traveling home with several fellow village chairmen.

The group was returning from the birthday celebration of Masantol Mayor Danilo Guntu when they were suddenly fired upon by motorcycle-riding gunmen. The attack resulted in the tragic death of Chairman Quiambao, while another village chief sustained injuries.
