Three suspected drug personalities were fatally shot during a police operation that escalated into a violent confrontation in Quezon City on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
Deadly Encounter in Cubao
The buy-bust operation conducted by anti-narcotics operatives turned into a shootout when the suspects opened fire on police officers. According to Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group spokesperson Lieutenant Marlon Sy, the incident occurred during a press conference held on Wednesday, November 19.
The suspects, identified as high-value targets, had been under surveillance since August 2025 before the transaction finally progressed. During the confrontation, one police officer and a confidential informant sustained injuries and received medical treatment.
Identities and Background of Suspects
Lieutenant Sy revealed significant details about the deceased suspects during the briefing. One suspect, known by the alias Jason, was a suspended security guard. Another suspect showed resemblance to a previously arrested individual from 2017 and was believed to be the leader of the Limjoco robbery group.
All three individuals were on the police target list and part of intelligence packets that had been carefully monitored by authorities for several months before the operation reached its conclusion.
Massive Drug Haul Recovered
Following the confrontation, law enforcement officials made a substantial drug seizure from the suspects. Approximately P68 million worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, was confiscated during the operation.
The successful operation represents a significant blow to drug trafficking activities in the Quezon City area, particularly in the Cubao district where the incident took place. Police authorities have emphasized their continued commitment to combating the illegal drug trade throughout the Philippines.
