In a major push for public safety, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) successfully rescued close to 300 minors during the latest phase of its Oplan Bulabog operation. The week-long drive, which ran from the night of November 24, 2025, until the early morning of November 30, 2025, focused on enforcing the city's curfew ordinance.
Minors Turned Over for Intervention
All rescued minors, who were found violating the curfew, were promptly turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The goal of this mandatory intervention is to shield young people who are out on the streets late at night from potential harm or from being exploited by criminal elements. Authorities aim to guide them away from dangerous situations through structured programs.
Drug Busts and Reinstated Weapons Check
The operation yielded significant results beyond curfew enforcement. Police apprehended five drug suspects and confiscated approximately 1.57 grams of suspected shabu. The illegal drugs have an estimated street value of P10,676. All suspects are now facing charges for violating Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
In a parallel move to enhance security, the CCPO, under the leadership of Police Colonel George Ylanan, has reinstated its Oplan Bakal Sita. This operation involves police officers entering establishments serving alcohol to inspect patrons for illegally carried firearms. The initiative is designed to prevent shooting incidents, which often involve individuals under the influence of alcohol.
Sustained Visibility for Holiday Peace
Colonel Ylanan emphasized the past effectiveness of Oplan Bakal Sita in reducing shooting incidents in Cebu City. He assured the public that the police will intensify visibility and night patrols to ensure lasting order, peace, and security throughout the city as Christmas and New Year celebrations approach.
Collaborating with the Cebu City Enforcement and Security Team (CSEST), authorities also issued 32 citation tickets for various minor offenses. These included smoking and urinating in public places, highlighting a holistic approach to maintaining public order and cleanliness.
