Over 5,000 Filipinos Anticipate Benefits from Expanded Government Housing Initiative
The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has expressed strong confidence that more than 5,000 individuals will directly benefit from a new approach implemented under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, spearheaded by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. This optimistic outlook stems from a direct order issued by DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling to the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), urging the revitalization and prioritization of long-stalled housing projects that have remained incomplete for years.
Reviving Stalled Projects to Address Critical Housing Needs
The primary objective of this strategic move is to resume housing projects that were delayed or halted due to various reasons, aiming to swiftly address the critical need for decent and affordable shelter among many Filipinos. By focusing on these neglected initiatives, the government seeks to accelerate the delivery of housing solutions, thereby improving living conditions and fostering community development in underserved areas.
Priority Given to Caloocan's Vertical Housing Projects
As a priority in restarting these projects, attention will be concentrated on three stalled vertical housing projects located in the city of Caloocan. These include:
- The Alyansang Mamamayan ng Caloocan Housing Cooperative
- The Hopeville Phase 2 Homeowners Association (HOA) situated in Bagumbong
- The Genesis Ville Homeowners Association (HOA) in Camarin
These projects, comprising 35 low-rise buildings, were initially approved and commenced during the administration of former President Aquino. Their revival marks a significant step forward in fulfilling long-standing commitments to housing development, leveraging existing infrastructure to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
Enhancing Urban Development and Social Welfare
The renewed focus on these housing initiatives not only aims to provide immediate relief to thousands of families but also contributes to broader urban development goals. By completing these stalled projects, the DHSUD hopes to set a precedent for future housing programs, ensuring that similar delays are minimized and that affordable housing remains accessible to all Filipinos, particularly in densely populated urban centers like Caloocan.
