Angeles Mayor Vows Transparent Probe into Building Collapse

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo "Jon" Lazatin II has assured the public of transparency and accountability in the ongoing investigations following the collapse of a building under construction in Barangay Balibago, which tragically claimed the lives of several workers.

Owner Cooperates with Authorities

Lazatin stated that the building owner has already coordinated with the local government and committed to cooperate fully with authorities, providing all necessary documents, permits, reports, and other relevant information related to the tragedy. "They will coordinate with us and support whatever documents, permits, reports, or anything related to this tragedy that happened," Lazatin said.

Fair and Transparent Investigation

The mayor also vowed that the city government would ensure a fair and transparent investigation into the incident. He assured residents and the victims' families that justice would be pursued and the truth behind the tragedy would be uncovered. "I assure the public that there will be justice and we will also know the truth about this tragedy," he added.

Condolences and Calls for Accountability

Lazatin extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims. "To the families of the victims, I offer my heartfelt condolences and I hope you will be given justice," he said. Meanwhile, a mason identified as Erwin Dungka called on the contractor and owner of the collapsed structure to face the public, amid growing calls for accountability from the families of the deceased workers.
