Bacolod Police Apprehend High-Profile Suspect and Uncover Smuggling Operation

In a significant law enforcement breakthrough, authorities in Bacolod City have successfully arrested one of Negros Occidental's most wanted individuals and uncovered a major smuggling operation within days of each other. These coordinated efforts underscore the police's intensified campaign against criminal activities in the region.

Arrest of Eighth Most Wanted Person in Negros Occidental

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, operatives from Police Station 10 apprehended a key suspect in Bangga Totong 4, Barangay Felisa, Bacolod City. The individual, identified only by the alias Mark, is a 23-year-old resident of Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental. Colonel Eugene Rebadomia, the officer-in-charge of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), confirmed that the arrest was executed based on a warrant issued for statutory rape under Article 266-A(1)(D) in relation to Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act 11648.

Judge Joan Olvido Lumawag of the Regional Trial Court in Bacolod City had issued the arrest warrant on February 24, 2026. The suspect is currently detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 10, where he is listed as the second most wanted person at the station level and the eighth most wanted at the provincial level. Colonel Rebadomia emphasized that this arrest is part of the BCPO's ongoing commitment to pursuing wanted persons and ensuring justice for victims of heinous crimes.

Seizure of Smuggled Cigarettes Worth P519,000

In a separate operation on Monday evening, March 2, 2026, the BCPO made another significant discovery. Personnel from the City Intelligence Unit (CIU) were conducting monitoring activities related to an arrest warrant when they observed an unidentified man exiting an abandoned house in Florence Ville Subdivision, Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City, carrying a large brown box. Upon approaching the area, the suspect fled, escaping via the upper cemented stairs of the house and leaving the box behind.

Upon inspection, the box was found to contain assorted illicit cigarettes. Further investigation revealed several additional boxes with similar contraband, totaling an estimated market value of P519,000. The confiscated cigarettes have been turned over to appropriate government agencies for proper disposition. Colonel Rebadomia stated that the BCPO will continue its vigorous campaign against smuggling and illegal trade across various areas in the city.

Police Commitment to Law Enforcement and Public Safety

Colonel Rebadomia highlighted that these operations reflect the BCPO's dedication to upholding the law and protecting the community. The arrest of a high-profile wanted person and the seizure of smuggled goods demonstrate the effectiveness of their intensified efforts. The police force remains focused on combating serious crimes and illegal activities, ensuring a safer environment for Bacolod City residents.

These developments serve as a reminder of the ongoing challenges in law enforcement and the importance of community cooperation in reporting suspicious activities. The BCPO encourages the public to remain vigilant and support their initiatives to maintain peace and order in the region.
