BACOLOD CITY – A significant number of solo parents in Bacolod City have started receiving much-needed financial support, with at least 750 out of 1,500 registered beneficiaries obtaining P6,000 in cash assistance on February 16, 2026. This initial distribution marks the first day of payouts, held at the Barangay Villamonte Gymnasium, as part of the city's ongoing efforts to aid vulnerable households.
Payout Schedule and Program Details
Dr. Richelle Verdeprado-Mangga, head of the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), confirmed that the remaining beneficiaries will receive their assistance during a second payout scheduled for February 18. The distribution is being managed by the DSSD through the City Government's Solo Parents Welfare Program, a locally funded initiative designed to provide sustained support.
This program allocates P1,000 per month to solo parents for the period covering July to December 2025, culminating in the lump-sum payout of P6,000. Verdeprado-Mangga disclosed that the city has allocated a total of P9 million for this endeavor, with P4.5 million already disbursed on the first day alone.
Objectives and Administrative Commitment
The subsidy aims to alleviate the financial strain on solo parents, assisting with critical expenses such as household needs, healthcare, and children's education. Verdeprado-Mangga emphasized that Mayor Greg Gasataya's administration is dedicated to fully implementing Republic Act 11861, also known as the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act, ensuring comprehensive support for this demographic.
For beneficiaries who missed the initial distribution or cannot attend the February 18 payout, claims can be processed at the DSSD Office located in the Bacolod City Government Center. The DSSD has reminded all recipients to bring their valid Solo Parent ID and other necessary identification documents to facilitate a smooth and efficient transaction process.
