Bacolod Welcomes New Police Chief with Focus on Crime Reduction

In a significant leadership transition for Bacolod City, Police Colonel Eugene Rebadomia has officially taken over as the new officer-in-charge of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), effective February 9, 2026. The appointment marks a pivotal moment in the city's ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and combat criminal activities.

Mayor's Directives for Enhanced Security Measures

During the turnover ceremony held at the BCPO Gym in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya issued clear instructions to Colonel Rebadomia. The mayor emphasized the need to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs and increase visibility patrols throughout various areas of the city. Gasataya highlighted that under the previous leadership of Colonel Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod had achieved commendable performance in anti-drug operations during 2025, and he expects Rebadomia to build upon these successes.

"He should continue the good records of BCPO this year," Mayor Gasataya stated, underscoring the importance of maintaining momentum in law enforcement initiatives. In addition to drug-related concerns, the mayor discussed collaborative efforts with the Bacolod Traffic and Transport Management Department (BTTMD) to ensure smoother traffic flow, indicating a holistic approach to urban management and security.

Leadership Transition and Ceremonial Highlights

The turnover event was attended by key figures, including PRO-NIR Director Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay and members of the BCPO Command Group. Colonel Rebadomia, who previously served as head of the PRO-NIR Operations Office and held various positions outside Bacolod, brings local expertise to his new role. Mayor Gasataya noted that Rebadomia's familiarity with the city's terrain provides a strategic advantage in his duties.

General Ibay framed the leadership change as a moment of both gratitude and responsibility, expressing appreciation for the local government's support and partnership with the Philippine National Police. He commended outgoing Colonel Coronica for his dedicated service, which fostered discipline, operational effectiveness, and community engagement within BCPO.

Emphasis on Integrity and Continuity in Policing

In his address, General Ibay urged Colonel Rebadomia to lead with integrity, uphold discipline, care for personnel, and strengthen coordination with local government units and stakeholders. "Let this transition remind us that while leadership changes, our mission remains the same: to serve the people, uphold the rule of law," Ibay remarked, aligning the new chapter with the PNP's mantra of "Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman" (Fast, Honest, and Felt Service).

He described the turnover as a symbol of institutional stability and continuity, reaffirming the PNP's commitment to professionalism and accountability. As BCPO enters this new phase, it remains focused on intensifying campaigns against criminality, illegal drugs, and loose firearms, with the ultimate goal of safeguarding the life, property, and security of every Bacolodnon resident.
