The bouncers were allegedly posing as security escorts for Sean Andrew Pajarillo, a suspect in a hit-and-run case. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday, February 8, along Maria Luisa Road in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City, where Cheng lost his life.
Failed Attempt to Enter Hospital Room
At the time of the arrest, police officers from both Cebu City and Mandaue City were stationed outside Pajarillo's private hospital room, providing security. The five men attempted to gain entry, claiming they were private security escorts hired by Pajarillo's family to guard him. However, when questioned by authorities, they could not present any authorization documents, raising immediate suspicions.
Investigation and Legal Violations
The Cebu City Police Office coordinated with RCSU 7 to verify the men's status. An investigation revealed that they were not licensed security guards but rather nightclub bouncers who had been hired by the family. Consequently, the five individuals were arrested for violating Republic Act 11917, also known as the Private Security Services Industry Act.
