The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) arrested 193 individuals from May 1 to 10, 2026, as it maintained its anti-crime campaign while simultaneously assisting in security operations for the 48th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.
Arrests Amid Summit Security
Data released by the CCPO revealed that the arrests were carried out despite the deployment of police personnel for summit-related security tasks. CCPO Director Col. George Ylanan emphasized that the office did not neglect its fight against criminality, even as other police units concentrated on security preparations in Lapu-Lapu City.
Anti-Illegal Drug Operations
During the 10-day period, the CCPO conducted 90 anti-illegal drug operations, resulting in the arrest of 90 drug personalities. Authorities also confiscated 183.36 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of approximately P1.2 million.
Illegal Gambling and Firearms
In its campaign against illegal gambling, the CCPO carried out 41 operations, arresting 76 individuals and seizing P10,282 in gambling money. Additionally, police recovered 14 loose firearms and arrested 14 suspects in connection with illegal possession of weapons.
Wanted Persons
The CCPO also intensified its efforts to apprehend wanted persons, arresting 13 individuals with outstanding warrants. Among them was a person classified as a most wanted fugitive.
Collaboration with Local Government
Ylanan noted that personnel from the Cebu City Government joined police in every anti-crime operation during this period. Meanwhile, City Hall issued 1,339 citation tickets to individuals violating local ordinances.
Zero Incidents During Summit
The CCPO reported no incidents during the ASEAN summit, a success attributed to the sustained anti-crime campaign. The coordinated efforts ensured public safety while supporting the high-profile international event.
