The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has implemented a minor revamp of three major police stations to give police officials an opportunity to advance in position and rank.
Changes in Leadership
Police Major Eric Gingoyon has been relieved as chief of the Mabolo Police Station, replaced by Officer-in-Charge Police Major Thom Ed Taghoy, the former head of the Carbon Police Station. Gingoyon is currently assigned to the CCPO headquarters and is scheduled to be placed in another unit for career enhancement.
The newly appointed chief of the Carbon Police Station is Police Captain Venstine Bontilao, formerly the station commander of the Guadalupe Police Station. Bontilao's position is taken over by his deputy, Police Captain Gabriel Mota.
Turnover Ceremony
The turnover of office ceremony was held at the CCPO headquarters conference room, led by Police Colonel George Ylanan, the CCPO director. According to Ylanan, Gingoyon's relief was done so he could hold a staff position necessary for his promotion from Police Major to Police Lieutenant Colonel.
Ylanan clarified that he was satisfied with Gingoyon's performance during his one-year tenure at the Mabolo Police Station due to his many accomplishments. "Some have been in their positions for a long time, so rotation is necessary, and some have to go up. Major Gingoyon has to occupy a staff position here in Cebu City Police Office in order for him to be promoted to Lieutenant Colonel," Ylanan said.
Expectations and Mandate
Ylanan thanked the three station commanders for their good work in their previous posts and expressed confidence that they would achieve their goals in their new roles. He ordered the three police officials to uphold the values of discipline and professionalism in their work as enforcers of the law.
