Cebu Governor Prioritizes Passenger Comfort for Holy Week Travel
Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro has issued a directive to transport officials, emphasizing the need to prioritize passenger comfort and prevent overcrowding at the province's major bus terminals during the upcoming Holy Week. This move follows concerns over long queues and commuter inconvenience that have plagued previous holiday seasons.
Addressing Past Inconveniences
Baricuatro highlighted the importance of ensuring that passengers do not endure the excessive waiting times seen in past situations, where lines reportedly stretched as far as the vicinity of Elizabeth Mall. "My instruction is to make sure that people are comfortable," the governor stated. "They should not have to suffer. We want to avoid a situation where passenger lines become excessively long, like before. I want people to feel at ease when they travel."
Enhanced Support Services
To bolster these efforts, Baricuatro has ordered the deployment of free buses specifically for vulnerable sectors, including individuals who may require additional assistance during their journeys. She also stressed the critical need for providing basic support services at both the Cebu North and South Bus Terminals. "We also have free buses for vulnerable sectors, and I want to make sure that water and medical assistance are available at both the south and north bus terminals," she added.

This directive comes as authorities continue to actively manage passenger flow in key transport hubs across Cebu. The Provincial Government is aiming to deliver safer, more efficient, and commuter-friendly travel conditions throughout the Holy Week period. By implementing these measures, officials hope to mitigate the stress and discomfort often associated with peak travel times, ensuring a smoother experience for all commuters.
