In a significant anti-drug operation, the Guadalupe Police Station in Cebu City apprehended a couple identified as high-value individuals during a buy-bust on Friday evening, March 27, 2026. The arrest occurred at 8:39 p.m. in Sityo Langub, Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City, marking a major breakthrough in local law enforcement efforts.
Details of the Arrest and Seizure
The suspects, known by aliases Sandy, 54, a resident of Sambag 4, Barangay Guadalupe, and her partner Budlat, 39, from Cabantan, Barangay Luz, were caught in the act. Authorities confiscated large packages of suspected shabu from them, concealed in a black backpack. The drugs weighed approximately 2,115 grams, with an estimated street value of P14.3 million based on standard drug pricing.
According to the Guadalupe Police Station Cebu City investigation, the couple had been under surveillance for an extended period. They were allegedly identified as sources of illegal drugs in Barangay Kalunasan and adjacent areas. After confirming their activities, the Station Drug Enforcement Team, led by Police Captain Venstine Bontilao, Officer-in-Charge, launched the operation in coordination with the Cebu City Police Office and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 7, resulting in their successful capture.
Roles and Legal Proceedings
Background checks revealed that Sandy acted as a bodegera or keeper of the illegal drugs, while Budlat was responsible for delivering orders to customers. This division of labor highlights the organized nature of their alleged drug trade. Currently, both suspects are detained at the Guadalupe Police Station Cebu City, with appropriate charges being prepared against them to ensure prosecution under Philippine law.
This operation underscores the ongoing efforts by Cebu City authorities to combat drug-related crimes and dismantle networks operating in urban communities.
