Cebu Policewomen Demonstrate Combat Prowess in Women's Month Tribute
In a powerful display of skill and dedication, female police officers from the Provincial Mobile Force Company in Central Visayas showcased their Close Quarter Battle (CQB) abilities as part of the National Women's Month celebrations this March. This annual observance, marked by various programs across Cebu City and province, aims to recognize and promote the capabilities of women in leadership roles, particularly within the police force.
Honoring Women's Contributions in Law Enforcement
At the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), a flag-raising ceremony on Monday, March 9, 2026, was entirely led by women, followed by an awards ceremony honoring the achievements of female officers. The guest of honor was Atty. Lecel Llamedo, Assistant Regional Director of the National Police Commission. Police Lt. Col. Franco Rudolf Oriol, deputy city director for administration and CCPO spokesperson, emphasized that Women's Month serves to acknowledge the significant contributions of women to nation-building and leadership.
"This Women's Month is about recognizing the contributions of our women to nation building, encouraging their leadership roles, and raising awareness about violations against women. We dedicate a month of activities to this cause," stated Oriol.
Governor's Encouragement and Provincial Celebrations
Meanwhile, at the Cebu Police Provincial Office, Governor Pamela Baricuatro was the honored guest. She acknowledged the challenges faced by women, especially in policing, but affirmed that women are equally capable as men in leadership, security provision, and courageous service.
"You carry not only the responsibility of protecting our communities but also the responsibility of showing young girls everywhere that women can lead, protect and serve with courage," said Baricuatro.
Showcasing Tactical Expertise in Close Quarter Battle
Following the brief program, female officers from the Provincial Mobile Force Company performed a CQB demonstration, a tactical exercise typically conducted by Special Weapons and Tactics personnel. This display illustrated their readiness to engage in combat operations during armed responses, underscoring their proficiency in high-stakes scenarios.
The event highlighted how women in the police force are breaking barriers and excelling in traditionally male-dominated fields, reinforcing the theme of empowerment and equality during National Women's Month.
