Cebu Vice Governor Calls for Formal Notification of Governor's International Travels

In a move aimed at safeguarding the seamless delivery of public services, Cebu Vice Governor Glenn Anthony Soco has formally requested Governor Pamela Baricuatro to provide his office with advance notice before undertaking any official or personal trips outside the country. This request, detailed in a letter dated April 7, 2026, seeks to prevent potential miscommunication and ensure effective coordination between their respective offices.

Addressing Recent Oversights in Travel Notifications

Soco highlighted specific instances where proper notification was lacking, including Governor Baricuatro's recent trip to Japan from April 4 to 8, 2026, as well as several previous journeys. He emphasized that such omissions can lead to confusion and hinder the smooth operation of provincial governance. "As provided by law, the Vice Governor assumes the role of Acting Governor in the Governor’s absence from the country," Soco stated, underscoring the legal necessity for timely communication to adhere to established protocols and facilitate official duties without delay.

Emphasizing the Importance of Coordination for Public Service

The Vice Governor stressed that adequate coordination time is crucial for maintaining uninterrupted public services. "Moving forward, my office be furnished with timely notice of any such travels. This will enable me to effectively discharge my duties and uphold the integrity of provincial governance," he explained. This proactive approach aims to avoid any disruptions that could impact residents and ensure that all governmental functions proceed efficiently during the Governor's absence.
