Suspect in Batangas Shooting Incident Apprehended Following Doorbell Prank

Authorities in Batangas have made a swift arrest in connection with a disturbing shooting incident that unfolded in Lipa City. The Batangas Police Provincial Office (PPO) confirmed that a male suspect is now in custody after allegedly firing a gun at a group of six Grade 12 students on the evening of January 26, 2026.

Details of the Prank and Shooting

According to police reports, the incident began when the students engaged in what is described as a doorbell prank. While waiting for one of their companions to exit a location, the group reportedly rang a doorbell, an act that is believed to have provoked the suspect. After the students had entered their vehicle, the suspect emerged from his residence armed with a Caliber .45 pistol and discharged the firearm in their direction.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the victims, who were all minors. The quick response by the parents of the involved students played a crucial role in the immediate reporting of the event to authorities.

Police Response and Charges Filed

The Batangas PPO acted promptly, leading to the arrest of the suspect. During the apprehension, law enforcement officers recovered the Caliber .45 firearm used in the incident, along with a standard magazine containing two live ammunition rounds.

In the aftermath, the suspect is facing serious legal consequences. Charges of attempted murder have been filed, in addition to violations under Republic Act No. 7610, which pertains to special protection against child abuse, exploitation, and discrimination.
