Duterte Supporters Stage Unity Ride Rally During ASEAN Tourism Forum in Cebu City
In a notable display of political activism, Diehard Duterte Supporters (DDS) riders organized a Unity Ride rally amidst the ongoing ASEAN Tourism Forum 2026 in Cebu City. The protest action commenced at the North Reclamation Area (NRA) and proceeded towards a prominent hotel and casino located in the South Road Properties (SRP), where the ASEAN events were being hosted.
Police Appeal for Compliance and Security Measures
The Central Visayas police have earnestly requested various groups and organizations planning to hold gatherings, rallies, or any form of protest action to refrain from doing so during the critical period of the ASEAN Summit Tourism Forum 2026 in Cebu. While respecting the right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, authorities have also urged the public to recognize the significance of this international event, which brings honor, opportunities, and benefits to the Philippines.
The successful hosting of the ASEAN Summit Tourism Forum is not only a matter of pride for Central Visayas as the venue but also for the entire nation. The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 has encouraged the public to cooperate and show mutual respect during this pivotal moment.
Strict Enforcement and Permit Requirements
Cebu City Police Chief, Police Colonel George Ylanan, has called on the public to adhere strictly to regulations by obtaining necessary permits from the local city government. The Cebu City Police Office has firmly prohibited any disturbances or chaos that could adversely affect traffic flow and public order.
It is noteworthy that the Pro-Duterte organization attempted to enter the South Road Property (SRP) to conduct their Unity Ride and sound their vehicle horns in front of the hotel hosting the ASEAN Summit Tourism Forum 2026. However, they were prevented by police officers due to the lack of a presented permit and the stringent security measures enforced in the area.
The police have emphasized that while peaceful protest is a constitutional right, it must be exercised within the bounds of law and order, especially during high-profile international gatherings that impact the country's image and economic prospects.
