Edsa 40th Anniversary and Trillion Peso March Part 3 to Rally Against Corruption and Dynasties
On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the People Power Monument in Quezon City will host a significant convergence of activists, leaders, and citizens. The event marks the 40th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution and the third installment of the Trillion Peso March, organized by the Buhay ang People Power Campaign Network and Simbahan at Komunidad Laban sa Katiwalian, with support from Caritas Philippines.
Three Pillars of Action: Past, Present, and Future
The gathering is structured around three core pillars designed to honor history while driving contemporary change. Noon focuses on drawing inspiration from the 1986 victory while acknowledging the persistence of social issues from that era. Ngayon involves a critical assessment of current anti-corruption efforts and a commitment to active participation in solutions. Bukas aspires toward a future nation free from corruption, abuses, and dynastic rule, emphasizing systemic reforms.
Confirmed Attendees and Symbolic Unity
Prominent figures set to attend include Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David, economist and Edsa veteran Winnie Monsod, former public officials such as Edwin Lacierda and Barry Gutierrez, and youth leaders like Khylla Meneses and Jeriel Francia. A highlight will be a symbolic salubungan at 2 p.m. along White Plains Avenue, where Edsa veterans and youth contingents from the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines will meet, representing a powerful union of past and future generations.
Key Demands and Legislative Calls
The Trillion Peso March Part 3 advocates for several critical reforms and actions:
- Promotion of people power over dynastic power through laws like the Anti-Dynasty Law and Party-List Reform Law.
- Prosecution of individuals involved in the flood control scandal and recovery of ill-gotten wealth, including from the Marcos family.
- Passage of bills for an Independent People’s Commission and an Independent Commission against Infrastructure Corruption.
- Justice for human rights abuses, with calls for a truth commission and reparations for victims of extrajudicial killings under the Duterte administration.
- Defense of historical truth against revisionism, particularly regarding the martial law years.
