Four Suspects Apprehended in Gruesome Nueva Ecija Double Homicide and Vehicle Arson

Police authorities in Nueva Ecija have successfully arrested four individuals connected to the shocking murder and subsequent burning of a man and a woman inside a vehicle in Peñaranda earlier this week. The victims' bodies were discovered severely burned, complicating initial identification efforts.

Details of the Arrest and Investigation

According to Peñaranda Police Station Officer-in-Charge Captain Vincent Taylor, the arrests were made on March 11 in Barangay Siempre Viva Sur, Mallig, Isabela. One of the suspects, identified as a friend of the female victim, is considered the primary suspect in this heinous crime. The three other individuals, including the husband of the primary suspect, allegedly assisted her in evading law enforcement.

The incident unfolded on March 9 at approximately 10:40 a.m., when a red Toyota Wigo was found ablaze in front of Leong Hup Farm in Barangay Sinasajan. Inside the vehicle, investigators discovered the charred remains of two individuals, both suffering from gunshot wounds to the nape, indicating a violent execution prior to the arson.

Evidence and Motive Revealed

Critical evidence in the case includes closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage that clearly shows a man setting the vehicle on fire. Additionally, a witness has provided a sworn affidavit to the police, corroborating aspects of the investigation.

Captain Taylor disclosed that initial investigations point to a financial motive behind the crime. The female suspect allegedly owes the female victim P2.5 million, related to a mortgaged apartment valued at P5 million owned by the victim. The suspect had borrowed P2.5 million against this property, which remained unsettled.

The planned transaction was revealed to be a ruse. During the time of the incident, the suspects were supposedly meeting a buyer to sell the apartment for P10 million, as they could no longer pay the mortgage. However, this meeting was fabricated as part of a premeditated crime. The individual posing as the prospective buyer was actually a tricycle driver involved in the scheme.

Suspects at Large and Ongoing Manhunt

Despite these arrests, two key suspects remain at large: the gunman responsible for the shootings and another suspect who drove the tricycle used as a getaway vehicle. The female suspect's account claims she was present during a transaction but left after the gunman suddenly shot the victims. However, CCTV evidence contradicts this, showing her and the gunman departing together in the same vehicle, suggesting coordinated involvement.

Authorities continue to pursue the remaining suspects as the investigation progresses, aiming to bring full justice for the victims and their families in this tragic case.
