Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) spokesperson Col. Mercy Villaro-Kantuna confirmed the surrender after authorities reviewed CCTV footage showing a pickup truck colliding with the victim at the intersection of H. Cortes and A.S. Fortuna Streets in Barangay Banilad. The victim, identified as Cleonel Torres Bruce, was commuting home from work when the pickup truck struck her bicycle around midnight on February 12, 2026. The driver immediately fled the scene, leaving the injured cyclist behind.
Charges Filed Against the Suspect
The suspect now faces multiple charges, including reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury and property damage. Additionally, violations of Section 55 of Republic Act 4136 and Article 275 of the Revised Penal Code for abandonment of victim have been levied.
