The Iloilo City Government has officially solidified its collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing, ensuring the ongoing implementation of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). This significant event took place on March 9, 2026, marking a renewed commitment to social welfare and community development in the region.

Pilot Area Success and Beneficiary Impact

DSWD Western Visayas Director Joselito Estember emphasized Iloilo City's pivotal role as a pilot area for the 4Ps program since its inception in 2008. Over the years, the initiative has served nearly 12,000 beneficiaries, providing critical support to families in need. Of these, an impressive 5,076 families have successfully graduated from the program, achieving self-sufficiency through targeted education and livelihood assistance.

Mayor Treñas' Vision for Continued Support

Mayor Raisa Treñas reaffirmed the City's unwavering dedication to uplifting the lives of Ilonggos. In her address, she announced expanded scholarship opportunities specifically designed for 4Ps graduates, alongside strengthened Sustainable Livelihood Programs. "Education is the number one tool to uplift lives, and we will continue to support our beneficiaries beyond the program," she stated, highlighting the long-term vision for empowerment and progress.

Collaborative Efforts and Future Milestones

The MOA signing ceremony was attended by key officials, including DSWD Division Chief Belen Gebuson and City Social Welfare and Development Office head Teresa Gelogo. This event represents another milestone in Iloilo City's ongoing drive to empower families and sustain socio-economic progress. The partnership underscores the importance of strong collaboration between local and national government entities in addressing poverty and fostering community resilience.

Through this renewed agreement, Iloilo City aims to build on its successes, ensuring that more families can transition from dependency to self-reliance. The expanded initiatives are expected to enhance educational outcomes and create sustainable livelihood opportunities, contributing to the overall well-being of the community.
