Iloilo City Inaugurates Two New Police Stations to Enhance Community Safety

On April 1, 2026, the Iloilo City Government, in collaboration with the Iloilo City Police Office (Icpo), officially opened two new police station buildings in strategic locations to significantly bolster community safety, security, and emergency preparedness across the city.

Dual Inaugurations in Jaro and Molo Districts

The inauguration ceremonies were led by Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas, alongside key police officials including Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, regional director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), and Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, officer-in-charge of the Icpo.

The first event marked the blessing and opening of the new Iloilo City Police Station (ICPS) 4, situated at the Icare Building in Barangay Taal, Molo District. Earlier that same day, Mayor Treñas, together with members of the Iloilo City Council and Police Colonel Parilla, officiated the inauguration of Icare Tabuc Suba, the new building housing ICPS 3 in Bankers Village, Barangay Tabuc Suba, Jaro District.

Emphasis on Rapid Emergency Response

During the ceremonies, Mayor Treñas highlighted the critical role of Icare Centers in improving emergency response capabilities, particularly during disasters and calamities. She stated, "What I have seen, because I am always present when there is a disaster or calamity, our Icare Center is a big help. That's why here in Iloilo City, our response is fast. It's easy because it's just one instruction, everything moves."

Police Brigadier General Ligan expressed gratitude to the City Government and residents for their ongoing support to the police force. He urged police personnel to remain diligent, saying, "Thank you very much for your help to your police officers. To our police officers, no matter how good you are, if you are lazy in your work, nothing will happen -- so keep working hard. The hardworking surpasses the good, and if you are already good and you keep working hard, you will rise even higher. So work hard."

Multi-Agency Coordination at Icare Tabuc Suba

The Icare Tabuc Suba facility serves as a comprehensive multi-agency center, housing not only ICPS 3 but also the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO). This integrated setup allows for faster and more coordinated emergency responses, streamlining communication and resource allocation during critical situations.

This new center becomes the ninth Icare Center established in Iloilo City, joining existing facilities in Barangay So-oc, Barangay Ungka, Barangay Calumpang, Barangay Balantang, Barangay Tanza-Esperanza, Barangay Nabitasan, ICC Gaisano, and Megaworld.

Strengthened Partnerships for Public Safety

Police Colonel Parilla thanked the City Government and residents for their sustained support, reaffirming the Icpo's commitment to maintaining peace and order through strengthened collaboration with all stakeholders.

The inauguration events were attended by numerous dignitaries and officials, including:

  • Police Colonel Jophel Calapiz, acting chief of the Regional Logistics and Research Development Division of PRO 6
  • Police Major Mark Renzi Ogalesco, regional pastoral officer of PRO 6
  • Police Lieutenant Colonel Lindley Barrientos, deputy city director for administration of Icpo
  • Police Lieutenant Colonel Lorenez Losaria, deputy city director for operations of Icpo
  • Personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection led by Fire Superintendent Melanie Habawel
  • Representatives from the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office
  • The Association of Barangay Captains of Jaro and Molo districts
  • Bankers Village Association officers
  • Various other community stakeholders

The inauguration of these new police stations underscores the continued and vital partnership between the local government, law enforcement agencies, and the community. This collaborative effort aims to strengthen public safety infrastructure and improve emergency response services throughout Iloilo City, ensuring a more secure environment for all residents.
