Iloilo City Police Office Secures Best City Police Office Title for Second Consecutive Year

The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has once again demonstrated exceptional performance in law enforcement, earning the prestigious Best City Police Office award for the second year in a row. This recognition was formally announced during the 1st Philippine National Police Day 2026 celebration, held on January 29, 2026, at Camp General Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City.

Award Presentation and Key Officials

The award was presented by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, who represented President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the event. He was joined by Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor “Junvic” C. Remulla Jr. and PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. in honoring the outstanding achievements of the ICPO.

Accepting the award on behalf of the command and its personnel was Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, the officer in charge of the ICPO. In his acceptance speech, Parilla highlighted the collaborative efforts that led to this success.

Factors Behind the Recognition

The award citation specifically acknowledged the leadership of former ICPO city director Police Colonel Kim Legada, whose strategic initiatives laid a strong foundation for the office's continued excellence. Additionally, the ongoing dedication of ICPO personnel in various areas was praised, including:

  • Effective law enforcement operations that enhance public safety
  • Active community engagement programs fostering trust and cooperation
  • A commitment to professionalism and public service aligned with PNP objectives

Parilla also expressed gratitude for the support from the Iloilo City government and the cooperation from the local community, emphasizing that this recognition is a shared achievement reflecting a united effort toward peace and order.

Historical Context and Organizational Structure

This marks the second time the ICPO has received this distinction, having previously been honored on August 12, 2025, during the 124th Police Service Anniversary at Camp Crame. The office operates under the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas, which is headed by Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan.

In a related administrative move, Brigadier General Ligan recently announced the regular relief and reassignment of 46 chiefs of police across Western Visayas, effective January 30, 2026. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen personnel management and boost organizational efficiency within the region's police force.

The ICPO continues to coordinate closely with the Iloilo City government and community stakeholders, maintaining its focus on policing excellence and public service to uphold peace and order in the region.
