Iloilo Police File Alarm and Scandal Case Against Four After Early Morning Disturbance

The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has taken a firm stance against public disorder by filing an alarm and scandal case against four individuals arrested for causing a disturbance in the early hours of January 31, 2026. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. along Jalandoni Street in Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao District, Iloilo City, prompting swift police action.

Police Uphold Public Order Despite Settlement Attempts

According to Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, the officer in charge of the ICPO, the case was filed to maintain public order and accountability, even though the parties involved had expressed willingness to settle the matter amicably. "This must serve as a lesson. The Iloilo City Police Office will not tolerate acts that create disturbance and threaten public peace," Parilla stated emphatically.

He further clarified that "even if the parties opt for an amicable settlement, the PNP will still perform its duty and file appropriate cases. Our commitment to maintaining a peaceful and orderly community remains firm and unwavering." This underscores the police's dedication to enforcing laws that protect community safety, regardless of private agreements between individuals.

Details of the Arrested Individuals and Incident

Police have identified the four suspects using aliases due to legal protocols:

  • Alias Jan, 23 years old, a food handler and resident of Barangay Poblacion, San Dionisio.
  • Alias Philip, 26 years old, a waiter and resident of Barangay Calumpang, Molo District.
  • Alias JP, 21 years old, a waiter and resident of Barangay Banban, Lambunao, Iloilo.
  • Alias Rey, 18 years old, a student and resident of Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao District, Iloilo City.

The arrest was made by personnel from Iloilo City Police Station (ICPS) 5, who were conducting mobile patrols and roving operations in the area when the disturbance erupted. This highlights the effectiveness of proactive police visibility in responding to incidents promptly.

Legal Proceedings and Police Reiteration

The suspects are currently detained at the custodial facility of ICPS 10, pending further legal proceedings. The alarm and scandal case was officially filed before the Iloilo City Prosecutor's Office on the same day, January 31, 2026, as reported by ICPS 10.

The ICPO emphasized that an amicable settlement does not extinguish criminal liability for offenses that disrupt public peace and order, reinforcing the importance of legal accountability in such cases. In a statement, the police reiterated their call for responsible behavior among the public and assured residents that they will continue to intensify police visibility, patrols, and law enforcement operations across Iloilo City to prevent similar incidents and ensure ongoing public safety.
