Iloilo Police Seize P1.4 Million Worth of Suspected Shabu in Coordinated Drug Bust Operation

In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, operatives from the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) successfully arrested a high-value individual and seized approximately 210 grams of suspected shabu valued at P1.4 million. The operation, conducted as a buy-bust, took place in Barangay Taal, Molo District, Iloilo City, at around 10:05 p.m. on March 31, 2026.

Details of the Coordinated Police Action

The drug enforcement operation was led by Police Captain Roque Gimeno III of the CDEU, with support from multiple law enforcement agencies. These included the Iloilo Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA), the ICPO SWAT Team, and the Iloilo City Police Station 4 – Station Drug Enforcement Team (ICPS 4 SDET). Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, the officer-in-charge of the ICPO, highlighted the collaborative effort that resulted in the arrest of the suspect, identified as alias "Rod." The 40-year-old, single, and jobless individual is a resident of Barangay Boulevard in the Molo District of Iloilo City.

Parilla emphasized the unwavering commitment of the police force, stating, "Whether during Holy Week or on ordinary days, the Iloilo City Police Office will not relent in its campaign against illegal drugs. To those engaged in this illegal activity, may this Lenten season serve as a time for reflection and change, in honor of the sacrifices of our Lord Jesus Christ for mankind. To the community, rest assured that ICPO will not let up in this pursuit to ensure your safety and security."

Evidence Seized and Legal Proceedings

Authorities confiscated a substantial amount of evidence during the operation, including:

  • 13 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu
  • Three knot-tied plastic bags also holding the suspected narcotic substance
  • The total weight of the seized drugs was approximately 210 grams, with an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P1,428,000
  • Additional items recovered included the buy-bust item, marked money used in the operation, and several non-drug related articles

The suspect is currently detained at ICPS 4, awaiting the formal filing of charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by local police to combat drug trafficking and ensure public safety in Iloilo City.
