Major Drug Bust in Iloilo Nets P782,000 Worth of Shabu and High-Value Suspect
In a significant anti-drug operation, operatives from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) successfully arrested a high-value individual and seized approximately 115 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P782,000. The meticulously planned buy-bust took place in Zone 3, Barangay Agcarope, Janiuay, Iloilo, at 5:24 a.m. on March 4, 2026.
Coordinated Effort Leads to Arrest
The suspect, identified only by the alias Mike, is a 46-year-old unemployed resident of Janiuay, Iloilo. His arrest was executed by members of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Team 2 of the IPPO, who worked in close coordination with the Janiuay Municipal Police Station and the Provincial Intelligence Unit. Authorities have classified Mike as a high-value individual allegedly involved in extensive illegal drug activities within Janiuay town.
Evidence Seized and Police Commendation
During the operation, law enforcement recovered four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing the shabu, along with other non-drug evidence. The suspect was apprehended after he allegedly sold illegal drugs to an undercover operative. Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, regional director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), praised the operating units for their success.
"I commend our operating units for the successful seizure of illegal drugs and the arrest of the drug personality involved," Ligan stated. "This accomplishment reflects our unwavering commitment to intensify our campaign against illegal drugs and to protect our communities from its harmful effects. We assure the public that PRO6 will remain relentless in pursuing those who threaten the safety and future of our people here in Western Visayas."
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Campaign
The confiscated shabu will be submitted to the crime laboratory for qualitative and quantitative examination to support the case. The arrested suspect is currently under police custody and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
This operation is part of the continuing efforts by the Philippine National Police to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs and dismantle drug networks across communities in Western Visayas. Officials have reiterated their steadfast commitment to pursuing all individuals involved in illegal drug activities, ensuring the safety and security of the public remains a top priority.
