Iloilo City Stabbing Incident Leaves Four Dead, Two Injured
A thorough investigation is currently underway following a fatal stabbing incident that occurred in Barangay San Isidro, La Paz District, Iloilo City, on the evening of March 21, 2026. The violent confrontation between two families resulted in four individuals being declared dead on arrival and two others sustaining injuries, prompting immediate police action.
Police Condemn Senseless Violence
Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, the officer-in-charge of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), has strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a senseless act of violence. He has directed all concerned units to conduct an in-depth investigation to establish the full circumstances and ensure accountability under the law. We strongly condemn this senseless act of violence that resulted in the loss of lives, Parilla stated, emphasizing the urgency of the probe.
Details of the Confrontation
The incident, which took place at approximately 10:15 p.m., involved members of two families, all residents of the barangay. A heated dispute escalated into a violent duel using bladed weapons, leading to multiple stab wounds. The deceased have been identified as:
- Johnny, 40 years old
- Johnny, 68 years old
- Joeven, 46 years old
- Tyron, 33 years old, a member of the other family
Two injured individuals, Glen and Gil, are currently undergoing medical treatment and remain under police custody. Investigators have recovered bladed weapons from the scene and are reviewing closed-circuit television footage and witness statements to determine the sequence of events and establish individual liabilities.
Possible Motive and Police Response
Initial findings indicate a possible link to illegal drugs as a motive behind the confrontation, though this is subject to further validation. Parilla highlighted the risks posed by illegal drugs and violent behavior, possibly aggravated by drinking sprees. This incident underscores the dangerous consequences of illegal drugs and uncontrolled violent behavior, he noted, reaffirming the ICPO's commitment to anti-illegal drug operations and demand reduction efforts.
In response, the ICPO has intensified coordination with barangay officials, particularly in areas under Iloilo City Police Stations 1 and 8, to enforce local ordinances strictly. These initiatives will expand to other police stations across Iloilo City. Parilla called on barangay officials and the public to strengthen preventive measures, including enforcing curfews and addressing drinking-related disturbances.
Ongoing Efforts and Public Assurance
Criminal charges are being prepared against the surviving suspects. Authorities have assured the public that police presence and proactive measures will be strengthened to prevent similar incidents and maintain peace and order in communities. The ICPO remains firm in its efforts to combat illegal drugs and reduce violence through community-based interventions.
