In a move that underscores the agency's commitment to passenger protection, LTFRB Chairperson Vigor Mendoza II announced the issuance of a show cause order, demanding the operator explain why its franchise should not be revoked.

The incident gained widespread attention after a video was posted on the K-pop group's YouTube channel, quickly going viral and drawing international scrutiny. Mendoza emphasized the severity of the offense, stating, "This is a serious offense, especially since the incident puts the name of our country in a bad light in the international community. The viral video itself is already strong evidence." The press release was issued on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, highlighting the urgency of the matter.
Immediate Actions and Due Process
As part of the initial response, the LTFRB ordered the operator to surrender the license plate of the taxi, identified as body number 4351 based on an investigation by the LTFRB 7 office, and the driver's license of the individual involved. The taxi unit has been placed under a 30-day suspension pending further proceedings. However, Mendoza assured that due process will be observed, with the operator given the opportunity to submit a written explanation and a hearing scheduled for April 21.
