In a significant road safety initiative, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7 and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Special Operations Task Group collaborated to apprehend nine drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol during a targeted enforcement operation in Cebu City. The operation, directed by LTO Assistant Secretary Mar-kus Lacanilao and LTO 7 Director Wendel Dinglasan, was led by retired colonel E.A. Arcilla of the PCG task group, aiming to bolster public safety and regulatory adherence.

Authorities concentrated their efforts along F. Cabahug St., ensuring strict compliance with Republic Act (RA) 10586, known as the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013, as well as RA 4136, the Land Transportation and Traffic Code. This proactive approach resulted in the issuance of 49 Temporary Operator’s Permits and the documentation of 54 traffic violations, highlighting a comprehensive crackdown on hazardous driving behaviors.

The recorded violations encompassed a range of infractions, with nine specifically for driving under the influence of alcohol and 10 for operating unregistered motor vehicles. Additionally, authorities noted 12 violations of RA 8750, the Seatbelts Use Act, and 14 violations of RA 10054, the Motorcycle Helmet Act. Other infractions included:
