Mabalacat City Mayor Geld Aquino announced on Monday, May 25, that he has ordered the inspection of all ongoing construction projects in the city. The directive was issued during the flag ceremony at city hall, a day after a building under construction collapsed in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City.

Preventive Measures Ordered

Mayor Aquino stated that he has directed the City Engineer's Office to conduct thorough inspections of construction sites across Mabalacat to prevent similar incidents. The move comes in response to the tragic collapse of a nine-storey building along Teodoro Street in Balibago.

Medical Team Deployed

The Mabalacat city government has sent a medical team to assist in rescue operations at the collapsed structure. The team is providing support to ongoing efforts by local authorities in Angeles City.

Angeles City Rescue Operations

Angeles City Mayor Jon Lazatin confirmed that rescuers are still searching for survivors trapped under the rubble. As of 12 noon on Monday, authorities have rescued 26 individuals. The Bureau of Fire Protection reported that 17 people remain missing as of press time.

Casualties Reported

The Angeles City Information Office recorded four fatalities: two construction workers, a Malaysian tourist, and a vendor. Rescue operations continue as teams work tirelessly to locate any remaining survivors.
