A 28-year-old man was killed in a brazen afternoon shooting in Cebu City on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, prompting an immediate police manhunt for the two assailants.
Details of the Fatal Shooting
The incident occurred at approximately 2:20 in the afternoon along V. Rama Avenue in Sitio Melonida, Barangay Calamba. The victim has been identified as John Arthur Palao, 28, a resident of Sitio Kawayan in Barangay Sambag II.
According to an investigation conducted by the Sawang Calero Police Station 6 (CCPO), Palao was simply walking when he was suddenly fired upon by two men. A witness at the scene provided crucial information to the authorities.
Witness Account and Police Response
The witness stated that one of the suspects, identified by the name Rosmar, was lying in wait behind a concrete post while wearing a red t-shirt. As the victim passed by, the suspect drew a firearm and shot Palao multiple times.
The victim was hit in the back, which led to his fatal injuries. He was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) but was declared dead on arrival. The second suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
In response, personnel from the Sawang Calero Police Station have launched a manhunt operation to track down and apprehend the suspects involved in this deadly attack.
