President Marcos Challenges New Police Graduates to Champion Integrity and Transparency
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. delivered a compelling address during the 47th commencement exercises of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) "Silang Paglaom" Class of 2026. The ceremony took place at Camp Castañeda in Silang, Cavite, on Friday, March 27, 2026, where 326 new graduates were urged to prioritize regaining public trust through enhanced police visibility and unwavering transparency.
A Call for Community Engagement and Ethical Leadership
In his speech, Marcos emphasized the critical need for stronger community engagement to bridge the existing gaps between law enforcement and the public. He articulated a clear vision for transforming the Philippine National Police into an institution deeply trusted by citizens, stating, "We can improve public trust through enhanced police visibility and transparency in these investigations."
The President challenged the graduates to become proactive problem solvers who enforce the law fairly, advising them to "leave all other interests at the door." He highlighted their role as "guardians of peace" and called on them to leverage the courage and discipline instilled by the PNPA in every decision throughout their service.
Zero Tolerance for Corruption and Human Rights Abuses
Marcos underscored the imperative of upholding a "zero tolerance" policy for corruption and human rights abuses within the police force. He urged the graduates to actively help cleanse their ranks, warning that "wrongdoings of a few will not destroy the reputation that you have worked so hard to achieve."
The President further directed the Philippine National Police and the Department of the Interior and Local Government to continue conducting prompt and objective investigations into erring officers, reinforcing accountability and professionalism.
