The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has announced a substantial reduction in criminal activities for the month of February 2026. According to official reports, total crime incidents fell by 18.60 percent, decreasing from 860 cases in February 2025 to 700 cases in February 2026. This notable decline highlights the effectiveness of ongoing law enforcement strategies and community collaboration efforts across the region.
Detailed Crime Statistics Show Widespread Improvements
Data from the Crime Incident Reporting and Analysis System (Ciras) provides a comprehensive breakdown of the crime reduction. The Peace and Order Indicator saw a decrease of 17.44 percent, while Index Crimes dropped by 18.82 percent and Non-Index Crimes by 17.21 percent. Additionally, the Eight Focus Crimes category experienced an 18.82 percent decline, and the Public Safety Indicator improved significantly by 21 percent, with incidents falling from 281 in February 2025 to 222 in February 2026.
