NLEX and Bulacan Government Unite to Strengthen Disaster Preparedness
In a significant move to bolster disaster resilience, NLEX Corporation and the Bulacan Provincial Government have announced a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing preparedness across the province. This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to proactive planning and coordinated efforts in the face of increasing natural calamities.
Two-Day Workshop with PDRF Drives Policy Development
As part of this initiative, a two-day workshop was recently conducted in partnership with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF). The event brought together 70 key participants, including policymakers, civil servants, and disaster response personnel, to focus on crafting robust policies and legislation that address disaster risks and their impacts. The workshop served as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaborative strategy formulation.
Leadership Emphasizes Proactive Measures and Continuous Learning
Luis S. Reñon, President and General Manager of NLEX Corporation, highlighted the initiative's goal to support stronger programs and improve coordination among stakeholders. "Our aim is to reduce risks and enhance community resilience through proactive planning," he stated, emphasizing the importance of a unified approach in disaster management.
Bulacan Vice Governor Alex Castro noted the timeliness of the workshop, given the frequent and severe disasters affecting the region. He stressed the critical need for continuous learning among public servants to adapt to evolving challenges. "In today's climate, ongoing education is essential for effective disaster response," Castro remarked.
Expert Input Ensures Effective Ordinance Crafting
Sangguniang Panlalawigan Secretary Ma. Perpetua R. Santos emphasized the necessity of involving technical experts in the development of disaster preparedness ordinances. "To ensure these measures are enforceable and effective, collaboration with specialists is paramount," she explained, advocating for a science-based approach to policy-making.
Expanding Efforts to Local Government Levels
A similar workshop was also held in Marilao, engaging local government officials and civil service staff. This extension of the initiative demonstrates a broader commitment to building resilience at the grassroots level, ensuring that preparedness strategies are implemented across various jurisdictions.
NLEX Corporation, a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation and part of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, continues to play a pivotal role in infrastructure and community development. This partnership marks a proactive step towards safeguarding Bulacan's communities against future disasters.
