Major Drug Bust in Bacolod Nets P1.4 Million in Shabu, High-Value Suspect Apprehended
In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) executed a successful drug bust in Bacolod City on March 25, 2026, resulting in the seizure of an estimated P1.4 million worth of shabu. The operation, which underscores law enforcement's intensified efforts, also led to the arrest of a high-value drug personality known as alias Boss, a 24-year-old resident of Purok Paraiso, Barangay Banago, Bacolod.
Details of the Operation and Arrest
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Drug Enforcement Unit apprehended the suspect after he allegedly sold a sachet of shabu to an undercover poseur buyer in Purok Paraiso. During the bust, authorities recovered several plastic sachets containing approximately 210 grams of shabu, with a street value estimated at P1,428,000, along with marked money used in the transaction.
Intelligence-Driven Investigation and Suspect Background
Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, chief of the PRO-NIR Public Information Office, revealed that the operation was initiated based on a tip from a confidential informant. The informant reported that Boss was actively engaged in illegal drug activities across Barangays Banago, 1, and 2 in Bacolod City, as well as in Talisay City, Negros Occidental. Malong emphasized that the suspect is considered a high-value drug personality in Negros Occidental, with a prior arrest record for violating Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He was released in 2023, highlighting the ongoing challenges in combating drug-related crimes.
